Fundamenta Informaticae invites submissions of original research papers of the highest quality in all fields of theoretical computer science. Papers submitted to FI must be written in English and should not exceed 50 pages. If authors feel substantially more pages are needed, they should explain why to the handling editor. The submission is required to contain an ACM subject classification. The abstract should provide a concise and understandable presentation of the main contribution(s). The length of the abstract should not exceed 20 lines (in the provided style of the journal).
Fundamenta Informaticae publishes only original papers which have not been published previously, nor submitted for publication elsewhere. Nevertheless, papers previously published in conference proceedings are usually eligible for publication, provided that they are revised or extended versions of the original conference article.
Online submissions
The submission and typesetting of Fundamenta Informaticae is fully electronic. Papers should be submitted to Fundamenta Informaticae using our online submission system. Prior to submitting, authors must post their paper on CoRR/arXiv. As subject they must choose cs.* (e.g., cs.LO), and if asked by CoRR/arXiv to select a license, they select the simple non-exclusive license to distribute. (See the arXiv licence information in http://arxiv.org/help/license.) After publication of their preprint by CoRR/arXiv, papers can be submitted to the journal.
Managing editors perform an initial evaluation of submissions, qualify them for further proceeding, and assign them to a handling editor. Each submission will generally be refereed by two or three referees. Based on the referee reports, the handling editor will choose between three options:
- The paper is accepted for publication, possibly subject to minor revision. Authors are requested to prepare a final version accompanied by a detailed response to the referees’ comments.
- A revision of the paper is recommended. This is the case where the editor concludes from the referee reports that the paper may deserve publication, but requires the referees to review the revised version. It is handled by the same editor; and it should be accompanied by a detailed response to the referees’ comments.
- The paper is not accepted for publication.
When a paper is accepted, a final version will be prepared, to be accepted by authors and to be updated on CoRR/arXiv (including the LaTeX source files).
LaTeX style and formatting
Submitted papers should be prepared in the current version of LaTeX style of Fundamenta Informaticae, according to the guide for authors. Since the articles are published in PDF and PostScript format we suggest to prepare your text to have clickable PDF links and/or cross references. The text should be single-spaced; single-column; should use a 11 or 12-point font; should employ italics, rather than underlining (except for URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables should be placed within the text at appropriate locations, rather than at the end. The abstract should avoid using mathematical symbols whenever possible.
